Responsible for preparing patients to be seen by clinic providers. Duties include: taking vitals, obtaining brief history, medication review, preparing for exams, collecting pertinent reports (x-ray, labs, etc.) and assisting the provider as needed, as well has caring for HBO patients, and cover the front office on a PRN basis. General clinic duties including; sorting, filing, mailing, copying, retrieving and delivering medical records as assigned. Duties also include answering phones and routing calls to the appropriate party.
One year MA experience in a clinic setting preferred.
High school diploma/GED.
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program required.
A person who meets all requirements of the MA-certified application but has not passed the examination may practice as an MA-certified under an interim certification. The interim certification expires upon passage of the examination or after one year, whichever occurs first. The interim certification is offered only an initial application and cannot be renewed.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Computer skills required. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Working knowledge of EMRs.
Current WA State Medical Assistant Certification and BLS.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as standing or walking for prolonged periods of time; frequent bending, reaching, stooping, crouching and stretching required during the normal course of the day. The employee must exert 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects and must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Requires frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation. Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. The work involves recurring exposure to moderate risks which require special safety and health precautions and the use of Personal Protective Equipment; risks such as exposure to contagious diseases, contaminated bodily fluids, sharp instruments, and other contaminants.
