Accounting Technician - Cash Receipts - Yakima, WA

Job Description:
The Accounting Technician will be responsible for processing the daily cash receipts, preparing deposits and managing the primary petty cash fund for the agency. Will be required to work in a team environment, contributing to the success and credibility of the finance office with a willingness to take on new responsibilities, improve efficiencies, solve problems and provide backup to other accounting office staff. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, adaptable to change, and detail-oriented.


Ensures that check, cash, bank card and ACH payments received are properly coded, processed through Sage Intacct and deposited in accordance with agency standards
Ensures all supporting documentation is properly scanned and is attached to system transactions
Monitors banking activity to ensure all electronic payments have been recorded in the month received
Maintains a schedule of ILS rent payments received for reconciliation to the department records
Prepares weekly ACH reports for medical billing staff
Monitors deposits from all locations; working closely with those staff assigned cashier responsibilities to ensure cash receipts batches are received and bank deposits are processed timely
Maintains the petty cash lock box for the Yakima location in accordance with agency policy, ensures receipts are coded and authorized and funds and/or receipts are returned timely
Maintains the custodial documents for all petty cash funds
Reviews petty cash replenishment requests from all locations to ensure proper coding, authorizations and balancing of funds
Works closely with all Finance staff to meet monthly and year-end deadlines
Represents Catholic Charities in the most positive manner with other staff, administrators, vendors, customers and the community we serve
Assists Controller and CFO with other work as assigned

Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Associates Degree or equivalent in Accounting or closely related field, preferred
High School Diploma, GED Required
2 years of relevant experience which may include Cash handling, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and/or General Ledger
Special Skills
Knowledge and experience with computerized general ledger systems
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Licensure, Registration, Certification
Valid Washington State driver’s license and agency minimum required liability insurance
Employment is conditional upon:

Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
