The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for one (1) full time permanent position for Maintenance Mechanic 4-HVAC/R at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center.

COYOTE RIDGE CORRECTIONS CENTER (CRCC) is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri-Cities. CRCC is comprised of two-complexes. The Main Security Complex (MSC) is a 2,048 bed facility that houses offenders with Medium and MI3 Custody. MSC consists of 4 Hybrid units and 4 Medium units. The Minimum Security Unit (MSU) is a 480 bed facility that houses assisted living and MI2 Custody offenders. MSU consists of 2 units. This is a work/program orientated facility that offers many educational, vocational, and self-help programs and Class II and Class III Correctional Industries work programs.

Reporting to the Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor, this position supervises an incarcerated individual work crew performing maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC/R equipment/systems and environmental control systems. This position helps ensure safe and comfortable living and working conditions for staff, incarcerated individuals, and visitors by maintaining comfortable environmental conditions. This position supports the DOC mission of improving public safety by teaching the offender work ethic that will help them for re-entry into society.

This position performs skilled electrical and mechanical work involving the maintenance and repair of HVAC/R systems including associated equipment and controls.
Maintenance and repair of select food service equipment, refrigeration equipment, ice machines, and hydraulic systems equipment and controls.
Responsible for developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance programs on the equipment and systems.
Be familiar and proficient with the software package used to monitor and control facility HVAC/R systems.
Be familiar and proficient with Micro Main web-based software package used to assign and track time and expenditures on work performed.
Maintain accurate tool control documentation, incarcerated individual timekeeping documentation, incarcerated individual safety documentation, and incarcerated individual work files.
Initiate Purchase Requisitions (PR's), and keep records of PR's of materials, supplies, and equipment needed to perform work assignments.
Possess the ability to estimate, plan, and coordinate resources needed to perform work assignments.

This position is expected to supervise a crew of incarcerated individuals of at least three individuals. This includes interviewing and training incarcerated individuals on the safe and proper use of any equipment or tools used to perform work assignments, accurate recording of incarcerated individual working hours, documenting Incarcerated individual safety training, evaluating work performance, and documenting any corrective actions. This position is expected to enforce all DOC policy directives and CRCC operational memorandums pertaining to tasks being performed.


Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two years of experience as a journey-level worker in one of the mechanical trades
Possess a valid Driver's License
Possess a valid EL06A L&I Electrical License
Possession of, or have the ability to acquire within one (1) year, the following licenses and certifications: Universal EPA 608 Refrigerant card
