The person in this position is responsible for processing the information needed to generate billings for services provided by the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. The Billing Clerk/Coder abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-9 /ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to established procedures. Works with coding databases and confirms DRG assignments.
-Education: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of a medical coding program preferred.
-Experience: Six (6) - twelve (12) months of experience in coding/billing or medical. Graduate of a medical coding program may be substituted in lieu of experience. Experience with encoding software or EMR.
-Licenses/Certificates/Registration: CPC or CCS certified is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Experience in and familiarity with billing coding; ability to perform data entry, bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, experience in customer service preferred, experience in accounts receivable duties is preferred.
