Position Snapshot: Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC and manual machines and equipment to produce high quality and tight tolerance parts.
What You'll Do at Zetec:
-Performs basic setup and operation of new and existing parts using conventional or CNC machines and tools.
-Interprets blueprints, sketches and engineering specifications.
-Checks work to ensure dimensions are within prescribed tolerances using a variety of measuring tools.
-Provides input with determining sequence of operations, methods of setup, and machine tool programming.
-Utilize the Shop Order Priority report. Ensure accurate commit dates for the next two weeks.
-Provide resource recommendations to problem solve delivery schedule issues.
-Demonstrate Lean Manufacturing principles and contributes to the reduction of waste.
-Possesses a strong understanding of the working properties of various materials (e.g. plastics, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, etc.).
-Reports discrepancies to supervisor and makes constructive suggestions that may improve production efficiency and profitability.
-Determines machining, materials, or parts required to complete the job with minimal supervision.
-Independently determines sequence of operations, methods of setup, and machine tool programming.
Serves as a technical expert by troubleshooting technical problems within the department.
-Helps train Level I and II machinists.
-Assist with special projects as assigned.
-May serve as a back-up Machine Shop Lead and/or Supervisor as needed.
-Follows all company safety policies and Quality Assurance requirements.
-Overtime will be required as needed.

What You'll Bring to Zetec:
-Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and drawings, sketches, and engineering specifications.
-Ability to read and comprehend manuals, work instructions and SDS sheets common to a machining and production environment.
-Demonstrated aptitude for complex math plus measurement calculations and the ability to apply measuring tools to complete parts.
-Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Effective communication and leadership skills.
-Ability to read, write, speak ,and understand English.
Education and/or Experience
-High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
-10+ years’ machine operation experience required.
-Demonstrated experience with precision measuring tools.
-Certification from a technical school in manufacturing and/or machining industry strongly preferred.
-Proficiency with Fanuc, Okuma IGF, Mazatrol controls highly desired.
-CAM experience a plus.
Working Conditions:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed around production machinery and incumbents may be exposed to fumes from acetone, coolants, solvents, and oils. There will be moderate levels of noise from machines and power tool equipment.Baseline hearing assessment required upon hire, and annually thereafter.
-Ability to stand up to 10 hours with standard rest/meal periods.
-Ability to perform work assignments requiring repetitive motions.
-Ability to hear, see, and speak.
-Lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
