Ditch Riders are responsible for performing regular and scheduled maintenance on turnouts and
other pipeline appurtenances, troubleshooting problems and making repairs, maintaining the
alternate flow schedule, properly draining and charging of the pipelines, performing locate
requests, starting up and shutting down the system, monitoring easement encroachment and
monitoring outside contractors working around District facilities. This position will be required
to respond to emergency calls for water leaks or locate request.
The incumbent will work generally in an assigned area of the District. The main area assigned to
this position is Naches Height, Cowiche and Tieton but training will include the entire District.
Applicants must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency (GED) and two years of
experience in repair and maintenance of irrigation, plumbing or electrical equipment or an
equivalent combination of education and experience, be self-motivated, flexible and team
oriented. Applicants must also possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be a U.S.
citizen or legally able to work.
