Job Description:
This Controls Technician position is responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used PNB facilities. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. May support repairs and installations for other advanced production/manufacturing equipment. May mentor and provide support to less experienced technicians. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed. The position may require weekend and/or holiday work. Selected candidate must be able to work any shift as well as daily and weekend overtime, as necessary.

Primary Job Accountabilities:
Maintains equipment and PLC programs
Helps implement electrical systems for new equipment, upgrades and facility
Perform preventative maintenance on-line
Preforms Breakdown Analysis
Drives safety initiatives from a controls perspective.
Drive efficiency gains on the floor from a controls perspective
Repair all production equipment as needed
Upgrade areas with new equipment/technology; work with outside contractors working online
Identifies the technical training needs of the electrical group and assists in the development of training programs and maintains schedule
Utilizes design and electrical skills to help improve performance of the process
Documents control improvements through print changes and procedure changes.
Demonstrated ability to adhere closely to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times, adhere to schedules, and interface in a constructive manner with all vendors, contractors, associates, peers and managers.
Maintains automation equipment program archives
Supports Line mechanics as required for daily operations
Trains Mechanics affected by control changes
Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)

Job Eligibility Criteria:
Associates Degree in Electrical, Electronics Technology, or equivalent experience preferred
Pass technical assessment addressing job-critical maintenance knowledge areas or provide certificate.
2 years minimum experience as an Electrical Technician preferred.
2 years minimum experience in AutoCADTM / Solid works.
Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers – PLC required. For example, understanding instructions, editing documentation, and/or navigation for A-B PLC-5 and A-B SLC-500 SLC5000, .
Experience with line manufacturing support systems such as, ozone generation, line/lube delivery, chemical delivery, ingredient delivery, RO equipment, inline process instrumentation.
Experience with troubleshooting (e.g., diagnostics, problem solving, etc
Device communication using TCP / IP.
Develop, implement, and maintain organized file system for software, machine centers, and technical drawings.
Ability to read and create system schematics
Experience troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns. For example, pinpointing and repairing problems associated with high speed manufacturing line breakdowns
Experience working with electrical systems required. For example, working with high voltage, installation, frequency drive experience, motor testing, troubleshooting, or panels in high speed manufacturing.
Experience performing preventative maintenance required. For example, conducting computerized preventative maintenance check-ups or reading SPC charts and data.
Experience with motor/speed control/VFDs.
Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting
Experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment team-oriented, deadline driven, high performance demands, and fast paced preferred.
Must be able to continually work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals.
Must be able to frequently lift up to 60 pounds; position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling continually over a 8-12 hour period.
Must pass the pre-employment drug test and background check.
