Thompson Metal Fab is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Welder/Fabricator position. Join a growing veteran owned company dedicated to investing in business and employees.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Safely perform work in small and/or confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights of 20 feet or more.
Flux-core, metal-core, and hard-wire with mild steel, stainless and aluminum.
Tig experience is always good but not necessary.
Fabrication experience with blue prints and welding symbol knowledge.
Overhead crane and forklift experience.
Effectively communicate information and ideas in English, both verbally and in writing without assistance or transition.
Produce high quality welds using FCAW, SMAW, and Sub Arc welding processes and successfully pass x-ray quality 3G and 4G CJP Weld tests on 1″ plate using FCAW 1/16″ wire. Others as deemed appropriate for your assignment.
Ability to become certified in the operations and control of equipment and systems, including, Overhead Crane Operations, Hi-Lift Operation and JLG Operations.
Conduct and interpret test and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
All employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-placement physical.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Set up and operate welding equipment. Knowledge of weld electrodes and wire, machine settings, quality and quantity standards and the use of oxygen/fuel gas torch for cutting and pre-heat.
Read and interpret work specifications, work orders, blueprints and schematics
Perform routine and minor maintenance on equipment and have knowledge of the equipment and the processes to determine the appropriate timing and type of maintenance required. Communicate with maintenance and facilities departments when appropriate
Perform air arc gouging when removing welds or preparing weld joints
Consistently meet individual daily production goals as set by superintendent, supervisors and designated lead employees.
