We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support our growing operations at our Portland (St John’s), Oregon facility.

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
Repairs, maintains, and performs preventive/predictive maintenance on plant equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Confers with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
 Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.
 Fit bearings, shafts, attach motors, and connect and align couplings and belts to precise tolerances.
 Performs pipe fitting of both threaded and welded pipe of various sizes.
 Fabricates replacement parts.
 Test-run repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
 Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.
 Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
 Welds to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
 Records repairs and maintenance performed.
 Rigging and overhead crane operation, lifting device use and inspection and load calculations.
 Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
 Knowledge in the operation, troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
 Ability to read and/or interpret mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic blueprints or schematics.
 Understanding of overhead crane troubleshooting and repair.
 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
 Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
 High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
 One to three months related experience and/or training; or
 Equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to touch; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
 The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
 The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
 The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
 The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
 Employee must be able to work at heights of 60 feet and above the ground.
