Job Summary
Performs skilled maintenance and operation activities related to the maintenance of grounds, facilities and parks and the equipment used in these areas.

TOTAL COMPENSATION: $41,552 - $56,069 annually. Total compensation is an estimate based upon base compensation, median retirement fund contributions, and current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates (including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, and leave). The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Examples of Duties
Landscaping Activities:
Apply pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers as part of landscaping maintenance programs.
Prune trees and shrubs, plants and cultivate gardens to maintain healthy and attractive stock.
Maintain and repair maintenance equipment such as power saws, lawn mowers and sprinkler systems.
Install and maintain irrigation systems and various piping and plumbing systems.
Clean walks and grounds.
Perform other related duties as required.

Construction/Maintenance Activities:
Perform rough carpentry work in construction of tables, roads, concrete forms, etc.
Perform basic welding.
Construct various wood frame and concrete block buildings.
Perform other minor carpentry and plumbing work.
Assist Mechanic 2 in assigned duties as needed.
Perform minor electrical installation and repair work such as repair of automatic control systems for irrigation systems.
Perform other related duties as required.

Janitorial/Maintenance Activities:
Act as liaison between Department and outside vendors, e.g. oversee outside janitorial service work.
Dust and polish furniture; empty trash.
Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
Sweep, mop, scrub, wax and vacuum floors and carpets using hand and power equipment.
Perform other related duties as required.

Other Activities:
Work directly with customers, which may include promoters, department heads, elected officials and the general public, to coordinate/complete projects.
Operate backhoe, snowplows, and road graders in park and recreation facilities and at the Fair and Expo Center.
Assist in maintaining inventory of machinery, tools, cleaning supplies, etc. and for updating fixed asset inventory lists on an annual basis.
Direct parking and/or park RV's and boats in storage facilities.
Assign and oversee the work of extra-help employees and work crews.
Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Two years experience at a level of Maintenance Worker 1 or a similar level of work in a related type of operation.

LICENSE: Herbicide applicator's license or Public Operators applicator's license- as required for the work. Valid vehicle operator's license. Valid Washington combination license (CDL) - as required for the work.

Selection Factors
Knowledge of:
• basic plumbing, wiring, carpentry and welding practices.

• perform semi-skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing and welding.
